Frequently Asked Questions
Will my insurance cover my physical therapy?
McMinnville Physical Therapy is a preferred provider for most insurance companies such as BlueCrossBlueShield, Providence, Healthnet, Lifewise, Medicare, US Benefits, Saif, OHS, PacificSource, United Healthcare and many more. Please call for information about your specific insurance company.
Do I have to see my doctor before coming to PT?
No! McMinnville Physical Therapy does not require a referral from your doctor. However, some insurance companies do require a doctor's referral in order to provide coverage. Please check with your insurance company to verify if a referral is required.
What happens during a physical therapy session?
On your first visit, your physical therapist will evaluate your condition and design a treatment plan specifically to suit your needs. Depending on your diagnosis, your treatment may consist of hot packs, ultra sound, electrical stimulation, massage, manual exercises, whirlpool, or a variety of other procedures. Typically, your therapy sessions will last about one hour. You, your therapist, and your doctor will all work together to decide on the best course of treatment for you.
What should I wear to my therapy appointment?
It is appropriate to wear whatever is most comfortable for you. If your injury is an extremity (ie: hand, wrist, elbow, knee, ankle, foot) then we do ask that you wear short sleeves or shorts and have no lotion on the injured limb. Many patients progress to an exercise program and use our gym. In this instance, it may be easiest to wear gym attire. There is a changing room for your convenience.
What should I bring to my therapy appointment?
On your first visit, please bring your insurance information. We will take a copy of your card, or, in the instance that your injury is the result of a car accident or worker’s compensation accident, bring your claim number and the name of your auto insurance or worker’s compensation insurance carrier. You will also be asked to bring the referral (or prescription) from your physician, nurse practitioner, or physician’s assistant (if applicable).
